At Watches & Wonders Geneva 2025, Rolex introduced a fresh update to its entry-level Oyster Perpetual collection. This year, many of the vibrant dial colors that once defined the series, including the highly popular Celebration dial, have been discontinued. In their place, Rolex has unveiled softer and more muted tones that are arguably better suited for everyday wear. New to the collection are three pastel matte lacquer dials in shades of lavender, beige, and pistachio. Additionally, the lineup now features a refined version of the Oyster Perpetual 41 (ref. 134300) with a subtly updated case design and a slimmer clasp.
At first glance, the changes to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual collection seem minimal. The range is still available in five sizes: 28mm, 31mm, 34mm, 36mm, and 41mm. Staying true to tradition, the models are crafted exclusively from stainless steel and continue to feature a smooth bezel paired with a matching three-link Oyster bracelet. Every version is equipped with a sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, a solid screw-down caseback, and maintains a water resistance rating of 100 meters.
While the smaller sizes (28mm ref. 276200, 31mm ref. 277200, 34mm ref. 124200, and 36mm ref. 126000) only see changes to dial color options, the new Oyster Perpetual 41 comes with more significant updates. The 41mm model now carries a new reference number (ref. 134300) and features an enhanced Oyster case with more elegant proportions. It also debuts a more slender clasp, and based on press images, the winding crown appears slightly larger compared to the previous generation. These updates give the new Oyster Perpetual 41 a more refined visual balance, making it look like a larger sibling to the timeless 36mm model.
The updated dial colors present a softer and more understated appearance compared to the previous generation’s bold and vivid tones. The new lavender, beige, and pistachio matte dials mark a clear departure from the bright gloss finishes seen before. Although the Celebration dial and several of its associated colors have been discontinued, select vibrant hues remain available within the collection. For instance, the new Oyster Perpetual 41 can still be purchased with a bright green dial, and the 36mm version retains candy pink and turquoise options.
Despite the aesthetic changes, the technical aspects of the new Oyster Perpetual models remain consistent with their predecessors. The 28mm, 31mm, and 34mm sizes are powered by the Rolex Caliber 2232 automatic movement, while the 36mm and 41mm models house the Caliber 3230. Both movements operate at 28,800vph (4 Hz) and are equipped with Paraflex shock absorbers. They are certified as Superlative Chronometers with a precision of -2/+2 seconds per day. The Caliber 2232 features a Syloxi silicon hairspring and offers a power reserve of about 55 hours, whereas the Caliber 3230 is fitted with a blue Parachrom hairspring and delivers a longer power reserve of 70 hours.
Each model in the updated collection is paired with the brand’s classic three-link Oyster bracelet made from Oystersteel (904L stainless steel). Unlike the polished center links found on models like the GMT-Master II or Daytona, the bracelets on the Oyster Perpetual series feature fully brushed surfaces, enhancing the contrast against their high-polish smooth bezels. As the brand’s entry-level offering, the Oyster Perpetual features the standard Oysterclasp, which still includes the convenient Easylink extension system that allows for a 5mm adjustment without the use of tools.
As always, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual remains the most affordable model in the brand’s catalog. All five sizes are priced well under the five-figure mark, with costs varying by size, starting from the smallest 28mm model and increasing with the 41mm version being the most expensive.
